Q6. For any regular polygon, we know that the number of lines of symmetry is equal to the number of sides. So for an octagon , it should be 8. But the answer you gave is 16 for the octagon. Has it got something to do with the word “axes of symmetry ” in the question? What is the difference between axes of symmetry and lines of symmetry?

Yes, you are absolutely right about the axes of symmetry for a regular polygon. And the octagon has 8 axes of symmetry, as shown in the solution. You might have counted them twice.
