Yorkshire Grammar School 11 Plus Exam Format
Yorkshire grammar schools are divided among 3 local authorities. Schools in Calderdale and North Yorkshire follow the GL board and Kirklees goes with – CEM (Cambridge Assessment) to administer their respective 11 plus exams.
In Calderdale, exams administered by the GL board is divided in three test papers of multiple-choice questions covering English, mathematics and verbal reasoning for The Crossley Heath Grammar School and The North Halifax Grammar School
In Kirklees for the Heckmondwike Grammar School, the 11 plus exam is set on the CEM pattern with 2 test papers that test Verbal, Non-verbal and Numerical reasoning with both multiple-choice and standard format questions.
Eleven Plus exam for the schools in North Yorkshire namely the Ripon Grammar School, Ermysted’s Grammar School and Skipton Girls’ High School covers GL specific subjects i.e, Verbal Reasoning, Non-verbal reasoning, English and Mathematics. The test papers have multiple-choice questions.
Moreover, GL assessment is not particular about time but focuses more on the subjects and it expects the students to do the same i.e, not to bother about time but remain focused on the subjects. The GL assessment style of the exam is not time critical, and students can easily complete the paper in a given time.
