King Edward VI Handsworth School For Girls 11+ Exam Styles
- The 11 plus examination for Handsworth School for Girls is scheduled to take place on September 16th, 2023.
- The West Midlands 11 plus test, provided by GL Assessment, consists of two papers, with each paper having a duration of approximately 60 minutes. At the beginning of each paper, a few minutes are allocated for children to listen to instructions and complete some unmarked practice questions.
- Both papers are further divided into smaller sections, which are individually timed and assess the following:
- English comprehension
- Mathematics
- Verbal reasoning
- Non-verbal reasoning
- The test is entirely in a multiple-choice format, with no writing sections. Children will record their answers in a separate answer booklet, which will be electronically marked.
- The mathematics and English questions evaluate your child's understanding of Key Stage 2 national curriculum content, including Year 6 objectives. These questions aim to assess their ability to reason and accurately apply their knowledge.
- The reasoning questions focus on evaluating your child's logical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills are typically not taught in schools but are designed to measure how well children can identify patterns, make connections, and manipulate written and visual information.
