11 Plus Exam Format

City of London School for Girls allows 75-80 girls into Year 7 each year to join the current Year 6 girls in the Senior School. Girls will be in Year 6 when they sit their entrance exam.

There is a two-stage entrance assessment (exam and interview) that takes place in January prior to entering the school in September of the same year. The examination process may seem a little challenging in the first instance, however, it is a very friendly and smooth procedure.

The school updates regularly where the process has reached and inform the student about the categorical selection processes. However, if the student may face immediate queries regarding City of London School for girls- they may choose to email the school.

The relevant details about the examination and the curriculum can be found in the School Admissions Booklet. If you would like to receive a hard copy - you will find it useful to keep this booklet handy as you go through the process. All girls will take entrance papers in the subjects they propose to study at A level. Each paper lasts 45 minutes.

Each girl will have to sit for an English and a Mathematics Examination. The mathematics examination is a test for numeracy and accuracy in arithmetical problem-solving. English examination concludes a girl's reading and reasoning abilities in terms of comprehensions, excerpt readings, and creativity skills.

Interview Process

A sixth form tutor will conduct an interview process for girls who finish the entrance exam for the City of London School for Girls. Only candidates who perform well in the written examination, as a result, will be invited to sit for the interview process during the mid-February selection process.

The interview is a short 20-minute process, where the pupil's ability to think on the feet is tested. If the student shows interest during the interview process, it will reflect a positive impression on the interviewer. So that the student can find his interest in the school and will know where to divest his time during his schooling, the interview is conducted in that manner.

The girl's acumen will be tested based on questions that evaluate reasoning skills- like puzzle solving, creative writing and more.
