King's College 13+ Exam Styles
- All pupils joining King's College are required to sit Maths, English, and verbal reasoning (VR) assessments. It is not possible to prepare for the VR. It will take an hour to complete.
- Once school has received a copy of your child’s school report and references as appropriate, school will contact you to arrange for your child to attend one of school assessment days.
- Places are offered to pupils who have performed well in the assessments. An offer will be made to pupils whose schools prepare for Common Entrance, subject to satisfactory results, without having to sit entrance assessments.
- Those pupils who are at a school that does not sit Common Entrance will be offered a place subject to meeting the College standards in the assessments.
- Entry at 13+ (into Year 9) is by completion of an interview with the Headmaster, receipt of standardised test scores, and the candidate’s most recent school report.
- Setting into Year 9 will be based on school reports, standardised test results and Common Entrance results. While Common Entrance does not, formally, determine whether or not a pupil gains entry, school still value the exams and the results will be used for setting.
