Bootham School 11+ Exam Dates

An entrance exam is taken to ensure the school gives you the right advice about your child’s education. Students entering at 11+ will attend an Entrance Assessment Day in January.

Bootham School 11+ Exam Styles

On a given date towards the end of January, all our 11+ candidates come to Bootham for a day of activities – rather like a Taster Morning. There will be exciting sessions in the science labs, in the art room; they will be given some challenges to solve, and will, along the way, have brief assessments in Maths and in English comprehension. In this way, the school will see your child as an individual across a range of activities, and undoubtedly be able to see their real strengths and abilities shine through. For those applying for scholarships and bursaries, attendance at the Assessment Day is a requirement

Friendly....with a discreet (universal) spiritual angle. Silence is at the core of the school's philosophy and values. The holistic experience is the context for pupils whose parents can afford the fees (10% less than the big names).
A priceless gift that will keep on giving.
Highly recommended by someone educated at one of those bigger establishments, but whose pocket is smaller than many. Happy days.....

Both of our boys are at the Junior School and this is the final year for the oldest.

The school has been excellent, with a strong experiential approach to learning. The focus is holistic rather than narrowly academic, recognizing that building confidence, courage, resilience, and curiosity are at least as important as any academic focus.

There are also many opportunities to participate in and be encouraged in sport, music, and other non-academic activities. Over the three years our eldest has been there he has achieved grade five and grade four in two instruments through excellent teaching.

Highly recommended as an all-around school.
