King Edward VI High School For Girls 11+ Exam Dates
- Registration for entry to Year 7 in September 2024 are open between 31st March and 12noon on the 25th September 2023.
- The entrance exam for girls wishing to join the school in September 2024 will take place on Friday 6th October 2023
- Interviews (where relevant) and Music Scholarship auditions will take place during the autumn term.
- Decision letters will be posted before Christmas.
King Edward VI High School for Girls 11+ Exam Styles
- The entrance examination consists of two English papers and one Mathematics paper.
- Both English papers are designed to test reading and writing skills and to explore a candidate’s potential. In the past, poems, pictures and passages of prose have appeared on the papers. Tasks have included comprehension questions, creative writing and an opportunity to respond personally to stimulus material.
- The Mathematics paper consists of a series of questions of varying lengths, designed to test the candidate’s ability to use and apply the straightforward processes of arithmetic. No calculators of any kind are allowed. Formal knowledge of algebra and geometry is not required. Some questions are deliberately designed to test responses to a simple but unfamiliar mathematical idea for which no previous knowledge is required.

School Catchment Area Criteria: School accepts applications from families based in a wide area, and do not give preference to those living locally.

KE VI High School For Girls 12+ Exam Dates
If spaces are available, KEHS will consider applications for girls to join the Lower Fourth (Year 8) and Upper Fourth (Year 9). Applications must be submitted along with a copy of the applicant’s latest school report.
Please note that School does not accept applications for girls wishing to join Lower Fifth (Year 10). Please contact the Admissions Registrar for further information.
