Shrewsbury School 13+ Exam Styles
- Candidates seeking entry to Third Form have two examination routes available:
- 1. Common Entrance Route: Many candidates from preparatory schools take the Common Entrance examinations, which are typically administered in their own schools in June before their planned entry in September.
- 2. Non-Common Entrance Route: We also encourage applications from students attending schools that do not prepare students for Common Entrance. In this case, candidates can sit our own Non-Common Entrance examinations either in November or February before their intended entry date. These examinations include papers in English, Mathematics, and optionally, French (if they have previously studied it). Past examination papers can be obtained upon request from the Admissions Office.
- For candidates located in the UK, they are invited to sit the Non-Common Entrance Examinations at Shrewsbury School. Special arrangements can be made for overseas candidates to take these exams at their current school, a local law firm, or a local Consul Office.
- Candidates interested in applying for an Academic Scholarship will need to sit our own Academic Scholarship examinations at Shrewsbury School in May of the entry year. While the majority of Academic Scholarship candidates come from preparatory schools, attending a preparatory school is not a strict requirement for scholarship consideration.
